West Brom well-positioned to sign Kieffer Moore in Bournemouth transfer amid Hawthorns speculation

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Don Goodman as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns.

Don Goodman believes West Brom are well positioned to sign Kieffer Moore if he is to leave Bournemouth for a Championship club this month.

The Wales international has struggled for playing time at the Vitality Stadium, making just two starts this season – both in cup competitions.

According to The Sun [3 January], Albion are one of a number of second-tier sides keen on signing Moore in the January transfer window.

Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City are also rumoured to be interested in the 31-year-old.

Bournemouth are said to be open to a loan arrangement, but would prefer to get his £40,000-per-week wages off their books for good.

While Moore’s former club Cardiff are considered the frontrunners to land his signature, Goodman believes a switch to The Hawthorns makes sense.

“They’re in competition with others. There’s strong links with Cardiff, a club that will have a piece of his heart,” Goodman exclusively told West Brom News.

“But with respect to Cardiff, if you’re going to compare them with West Bromwich Albion, West Brom are a bigger club.

“Albion are in a better position in the table and they’ve got more chance of promotion this season than Cardiff City, as things stand.

“From a purely football sense, you’d think if Kieffer had a choice between West Brom and Cardiff, he’d want to go to West Bromwich Albion.

“But, there is that tug on the heartstrings that can impact all players when making decisions like this.”

In other West Brom news, Adrian Goldberg has responded to an “impossible” claim with regards to the takeover situation at The Hawthorns.
