West Brom: Tom Fellows update emerges amid Fabrizio Romano exit speculation at The Hawthorns

West Brom remain in contract negotiations to secure the future of academy graduate Tom Fellows, according to Express & Star.

The UK news outlet shared (11 January) that the Baggies are in behind-the-scenes talks to extend his contract at The Hawthorns with his current deal up this summer.

This development comes after Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano posted on Twitter (10 January) that Premier League outfit Everton were interested in signing the youngster with their prospective new owners 777 Partners a fan of the player.

Encouragement

The 20-year-old looked head and shoulders over his more experienced teammates and has added life and energy to a team that has been struggling with injuries and fitness issues in attack.

His long-term future should be high on the agenda behind the scenes at West Brom, even despite their growing financial issues and that certainly seems to be the case with this encouraging new development.

The 20-year-old talent’s contract is up this summer which means he can speak to clubs over a pre-contract agreement or even an immediate transfer this month given the club’s need to free up space on the wage bill.

However, Corberan knows and admires the qualities he possesses but more crucially, he is certainly realising that losing a player of Fellows potential could prove more costly than selling him now.

If the Baggies are to challenge amongst the most prestigious clubs in the country in terms of youth development and academy recruitment then keeping a player of Fellows’ ilk will go a long way to achieving that.

This is a huge development for everyone at The Hawthorns but also one which sends a strong hands-off approach to clubs like Everton who are waiting to pounce for his signature.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
