Action for Albion has issued a response after the West Brom takeover bidders have been unmasked following an update on Friday morning (12 January).

The Athletic reported on its website on Friday that the Armenian entrepreneur Roman Gevorkyan and American businessman Shilen Patel have made offers for the club, while the frontrunner remains the group put together by lawyer Chris Farnell and Egyptian investor Mohamed Elkashashy, who have teamed up with local businessman Alex Hearn.

The Baggies fan-led protest group tweeted on Friday that it will not comment on the speculation and that it is working to find out the facts to be able to provide the fans with an update on the situation.

“We are aware of speculation regarding names involved in the takeover that have been reported this morning,” said Action for Albion.

“As always, we will not comment on speculation and will only deal in fact. We are working on getting these facts and will provide fans an update when in a position to.”

Cautious

It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to see that Action for Albion is being cautious about what it says about the situation as the reports are purely speculation at this moment in time.

But given that The Athletic is usually always quite a reliable source of information, there is a strong likelihood that what is being reported is correct.

Everyone associated with the Baggies is currently waiting desperately to see how the takeover talks will pan out as they want to ensure the club’s long-term future is secured.

Although it sounds as though the UK-based group are currently leading the race, it’s notable that MSD Partners, Albion’s biggest creditors, is believed to be backing Patel’s bid.

While there are seemingly a few different options on the table, the fans will be hoping the matter comes to a close soon so the club can start moving forward.
