West Brom takeover bidders unmasked as MSD back Florida businessman Shilen Patel; Armenian entrepreneur Roman Gevorkyan also in

The takeover bidders for West Brom have been unmasked as Roman Gevorkyan and Shilen Patel, who have both made offers for the club according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported on its website on Friday (12 January) that the Armenian entrepreneur Gevorkyan, the owner of Noah Football Group, a multi-club venture that includes a stake in Paris FC of the French second division, has been on the lookout for an English side for “some time”.

It added that Patel’s bid is the one seemingly backed by MSD Partners, the Baggies’ biggest creditors, with the American businessman now running his family’s office, which claims to have more than $2billion (£1.57billion) in assets under management.

The frontrunner remains for the time being, though, the group put together by Manchester-based lawyer Chris Farnell and Egyptian investor Mohamed Elkashashy, who have teamed up with local businessman Alex Hearn, the owner of domestic heating firm Warmfront.

Options

It sounds as though there are plenty of options on the table to suggest a West Brom takeover should take place before too long.

It also seems like some of the bidders do have a lot of money at their disposal, which will no doubt excite the Baggies fans if one of the interested parties can secure a deal.

The past few months have been a real ordeal for all those associated with the club and all they really want to know is that the long-term future is going to be secured.

But if Albion can get someone through the door with some real business nouse that can take them forward on and off the pitch substantially, then that would be a real bonus.

Although there was hope a takeover would go through before the end of the January transfer window to enable Carlos Corberan to get some new players through the door, that doesn’t look like happening due to a decision not yet being made on who is the preferred bidder.

It’s just going to take a little bit more patience from the fans, but it must be positive news to know that a takeover is extremely likely to take place before too long.

In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski has sent a “9996 days” jibe at Wolves after an Albion development has emerged.
