West Brom takeover details omitted as journalist ‘sworn to secrecy’ over Hawthorns update
Journalist Matt Slater has explained that he is “sworn to secrecy” over certain details regarding a takeover at West Brom.
The Athletic journalist previously reported that there is an unnamed figure involved in one of the bids currently looking to buy the club.
He explained that he has been told about one person included in the group put together by Chris Farnell and Mohamed Elkashashy, who have teamed up with Alex Hearn.

Replying to a comment on his story for The Athletic (12 January), Slater wrote: “On your point about speculation, are you suggesting that is what the above is? If so, I’m going to have to politely push back again.
“Everything written here has been double-sourced and is the product of dozens of calls and messages over the last few months. It was me who broke the news of the Farnell/Elkashashy bid last summer and I am now reporting the identities of the two other bidders considered to still be in the race.
“There are other names/details I could have shared but I haven’t because I’m either still checking them out or have been sworn to secrecy or don’t want to give too much away to rival outlets at this point.”

Lips sealed
Slater is clearly in the know about the latest goings on at The Hawthorns, with West Brom fans desperate to hear any and all stories regarding any potential takeover.
Things have been very messy behind the scenes at the club for many years now, with Baggies supporters going through a real roller-coaster ride in recent times. Unfortunately, that looks set to continue for the foreseeable future, with many more twists and turns expected.
All manager Carlos Corberan and his players can do is continue working hard on the training ground and on the pitch as they look to clinch promotion back to the Premier League.
They are certainly making a good go of it, with the Baggies currently sitting fifth in the Championship table, with 42 points from their 26 matches so far.
Things could have been even better had they been more switched on in key matches, but for now fans cannot have too many complaints about what they are witnessing at The Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, Fabrizio Romano has dropped Cedric Kipre exit news, with a Premier League transfer on the cards.
