West Brom: Don Goodman reacts as Dexter Lembikisa transfer decision at Wolves made
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Don Goodman as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns.
Don Goodman says West Brom supporters would welcome full-back Dexter Lembikisa at The Hawthorns despite his Wolves roots.
Albion have been credited with an interest in the defender since he was recalled from his loan spell at Rotherham United [TEAMtalk, 29 December].
However, HITC reporter Graeme Bailey reported on his personal Twitter page on Friday (12 January) that Scottish Premiership side Hearts are closing in on Lembikisa.
Lembikisa impressed during his time in League One with Rotherham, missing just one league game during his time at the club, and Wolves now want him to take the next step up.
If West Brom do manage to pull of a surprise and bring in the 20-year-old from their Black Country rivals, Goodman believes he can quickly win over the fanbase.
“He’s only a young boy who’s played a handful of games for Wolves,” Goodman exclusively told West Brom News.
“If a Wolves player can go into West Bromwich Albion and help them secure a play-off spot, which is what they’re chasing, then I don’t think the West Bromwich Albion fans will have any issues.

“For any player, when you go through the door or a new club, regardless of whether they’re a rival or not, your job is to win over the fans.
“You do that by playing well, putting in effort and commitment and showing the fans the quality that you have.
“If Dexter was to go to The Hawthorns and do that, I don’t think there’d be any problems with the fans whatsoever.”
In other West Brom news, Don Goodman believes Albion are well positioned to beat a Championship rival to the signing of a Premier League player.
