Brandon Thomas-Asante delivers West Brom hat-trick verdict following what he did v Blackburn Rovers
Brandon Thomas-Asante has claimed a hat-trick in a West Brom 4-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers despite one of his efforts being awarded as a Dominic Hyam own goal.
Tom Fellows opened the scoring before the 25-year-old forward arrowed in an effort from outside the penalty area to help the Baggies to a 3-0 lead at half-time.
Thomas-Asante wheeled away as Blackburn shipped the third goal, looking as though he had bundled the ball home on the goal line. The goal went down as a Hyam own goal, however. But in true striker fashion, he claimed the goal as his.

“I’m claiming it. I feel like I got there, so yeah as a striker that’s always your bias,” Thomas-Asante said to BBC Sounds on Saturday (13 January).
He would eventually go on to seal West Brom’s victory, cancelling out Jake Garrett’s strike and keeping all three points at The Hawthorns.
Exactly what you want from a striker
The confidence being shown by Thomas-Asante is exactly what Carlos Corberan will want to see from his player. Although the goal may have been taken away from him, the striker was in the right area at the right time to be in the equation.
After bagging just two goals in his opening 10 league appearances this season, Thomas-Asante now has nine goals to his name and is leading the line as West Brom’s top scorer.

He has managed five goals in the last eight Championship matches, helping the Baggies to their current fifth-place standing, five points clear of Coventry City in sixth and six points behind highflyers Leeds United.
Thomas-Asante will still be extremely frustrated not to be officially awarded the hat-trick, completing the feat just one other time in his senior career, scoring three times against Scunthorpe United in his time with Salford City.
The striker could be vital for West Brom’s season moving forward, as Premier League promotion still looks possible with almost half of the season still left to play.
