Carlos Corberan shares brand new West Brom transfer update at The Hawthorns after win v Blackburn

Carlos Corberan has confirmed that West Brom are working to complete the signing of Bristol City striker Andi Weimann.

The Baggies coach was speaking (via Birmingham Live, 13 January) after their resounding 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at The Hawthorns on Saturday 13 January.

Bristol Live reported on its website on Friday (12 January) that Robins captain is in advanced talks over a switch to The Hawthorns this January as he enters the final six months of his contract at Ashton Gate.

And Corberan, speaking to Birmingham Live said: “He’s a player that I know that the club is working on to make it happen, and if at the end the club can finish the work and we can add him to the club I will give you my full opinion if this happens.

“It still didn’t happen but he’s a player the club are working to make it happen.”

Boost

West Brom are in desperate need of additions this month given the depleted attacking weaponry at Corberan’s disposal at this moment of time.

The Baggies, in a number of weeks, have seen Jeremy Sarmiento return to Brighton from his loan spell in Birmingham and join up with promotion rivals Ipswich Town, Grady Diangana left the squad to represent DR Congo at AFCON.

West Brom

Summer signing Josh Maja is still out injured and may not return before the end of the month which has left Corberan short of options in attack.

The Baggies simply do not have the financial muscle as their rivals but could well do with a few loan deals and Weimann certainly fits the bill given his excellent versatility and experience in the Championship.

He can play in a variety of attacking positions and will provide a new element of versatility to Albion’s squad. But, also West Brom have Daryl Dike now back and firing which represents a welcome boost for Corberan’s lofty ambitions at The Hawthorns.
