Michael Dawson appalled by ‘Disaster’ in West Brom v Blackburn Rovers on Sky Sports

Michael Dawson was appalled by the defending from Blackburn Rovers which saw West Brom go 3-0 up at The Hawthorns after an “absolute disaster” at the back.

Dawson slammed the defending, describing an absolute mess in the Blackburn back line, and finishing by ruling that, it was game over already at The Hawthorns.

The former Tottenham defender was left stunned as Albion extended their lead again, questioning who had scored the goal which was eventually ruled as an own goal by Dominic Hyam.

West Brom

Speaking live on Sky Sports News [13 January, 15:35], Dawson explained: “The ball gets played out to Alex Mowatt on the edge of the box, he goes to curl it in the far post, it comes off the keeper and it more hits Asante rather than a finish, it just hits him.

“It might even be an own goal, it’s an absolute mess, it’s an absolute disaster, and it’s game over already. Blackburn has been absolutely terrible. It’s 3-0 to West Brom.”

Albion turning the screw

While their third goal of the game may have come through fortunate circumstances, with a scramble in the box and some terrible defending resulting in them extending their lead heading into half-time, it was a goal the performance had earned.

They were dominant throughout the first half and able to take their chances when they came, with Brandon Thomas-Asante able to get on the scoresheet despite not being awarded this one, and Tom Fellows also finding the net.

West Brom

It was a perfectly executed gameplan by Carlos Corberan, and Blackburn’s defensive struggles played right into their hands as the hosts were able to turn the screw and make their dominance count heading into the break with three goals to their name.

Going out for the second half it will be important that they continue to apply the pressure and down allow the visitors to grow into the game by becoming complacent – something the boss will be determined to avoid.

In other West Brom news, they are targeting yet another January deal.
