West Brom takeover set to get over the line – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Brom columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns...

Dan Plumley has insisted that everything now points to the West Brom takeover finally getting over the line with positive updates arriving consistently.

John Percy reported on 12 January that Shilen Patel is now the preferred choice of Guochuan Lai, with the Baggies now in advanced talks with the American.

With sports lawyer David Hinchcliffe also spotted at more home games, the finance expert admitted that all signs now point to this finally being completed shortly.

“It seems to be,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“The overriding point as with any football takeover is once you see it over the line, it’s done and it can be put to bed, but it seems to be the way the narrative has played out, that it is close.

We knew that before Christmas that talks were in pretty advanced stages, so I think all of that points to a positive in the sense that it’s going to get over the line.

Then, of course, you overlay what’s happening at the moment and that’s important for the club in the next couple of weeks and moving into the future, we’ve seen potential talks of new contract talks for the manager and some of the players as well.

Logically, you then look at that if those talks are starting to take place or at least are on the horizon, there must be something going on that suggests the overall takeover or whoever is running the club will be sorted out.

Again, all signs point in that direction.”

In other West Brom news, Plumley has also predicted that a change of ownership is needed at The Hawthorns
