Gabby Agbonlahor sends one-word message in reaction to new West Brom signing Andi Weimann

talkSPORT host Gabriel Agbonlahor reacted to Andi Weimann signing for West Brom with the message “legend” to a post by the forward on Instagram.

The Baggies announced the signing of experienced 32-year-old forward Weimann on a loan deal until the end of the season from Bristol City on Monday (15 January, official website).

Weimann, who was club captain at Ashton Gate, posted a thank you message to Robins supporters on Insta, detailing his fondness for the club where he has spent the past five-and-a-half years.

Agbonlahor, a former teammate of Weimann’s when the two were at Aston Villa, posted a simple but heartfelt reply, writing: “Legend”.

Solid addition

There is little love for Agbonlahor, a former Villa favourite, at The Hawthorns and few Baggies fans will give any opinion he has much of a second thought.

Still, it is quite a nice thing to say to an ex-teammate, who adds an attacking option to a West Brom frontline that has been decimated by injuries at times this season.

Weimann may be 32 but he scored 50 Championship goals for the Robins and is a canny operator at this level. Moreover, his workrate is an extremely valuable asset and one that will help him fit in to the high-press style preferred by Carlos Corberan.

Is it likely that the Austrian will fire in a bucket load of goals? No, not really. But he can be a big contributor over the next five months, and with money tight as we all await solid news on a takeover then it is a very decent addition to the team.

In other West Brom news, Lewis Cox has provided an update on the takeover with EFL talks mooted.
