Adrian Goldberg issues West Brom takeover and January transfer update

Adrian Goldberg claims that sales of West Brom players are more likely in January than the takeover being completed.

The radio and TV presenter told the Liquidator Podcast that while a takeover may be on the cards, it is not as imminent.

The Baggies have seen Jeremy Sarmiento leaving in January to return to Brighton who then loaned him out to Ipswich Town.

Goldberg said: “I would say that Albion are more likely to sell players in January, than they are to have a new owner.”

Takeover needed soon

The Baggies’ recent on-field success, with four consecutive home wins and a promising position in the Championship play-off places, contrasts sharply with the off-field turmoil stemming from Guochuan Lai’s stewardship of the club.

His troubled tenure, marked by financial instability and questionable decision-making, has left the club with significant cashflow issues and reliance on high-interest loans from MSD.

The impending takeover, sought by at least three prospective bidders, has become crucial for the club’s financial survival.

A successful takeover would not only signal the end of Lai’s divisive ownership but also inject much-needed stability and resources into the club.

The potential buyers offer hope for a fresh start and a chance to address West Brom’s debts.

The urgency of the takeover is underscored by the looming financial challenges, with fans rallying against Lai and forming protest groups.

Fans have endured poor management of the club for years and it’s time the new owners come in and help West Brom realise the true potential.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
