Doctor issues update on West Brom defender Martin Kelly ahead of Norwich and Wolves games

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom.

West Brom defender Martin Kelly is expected to miss the games against Norwich City and Wolves despite his under-21s return, per Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert admits he’s unsure as to why it took him so long to make his return to the reserves, but thinks it will be too premature for him to make a comeback to the senior side.

The 33-year-old came on as a substitute for the under-21s on January 15 when the Baggies side lost 4-2 to West Ham.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Kelly’s situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

Unsure if he’s suffered a setback or the medical team and/or player just aren’t ready for him to play in a match yet.

He returned to u-21 football recently and that’s a positive surely.

“However, for him to return to senior football after being out for so long with a knee injury will take time.

I’ll give it a few more weeks.

Kelly merely came off the bench in the game against Hammers so it’s not like he’s gotten a good 90 minutes under his belt.

He has been sidelined since February last year when he picked up a serious knee injury while on loan at Wigan Athletic.

It remains to be seen what the plans are to re-integrate him into the first-team setup and whether or not Carlos Corberan is open to the idea.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
