West Brom transfer news: Alan Nixon shares Baggies priority as ‘at least’ one new addition touted

West Brom want to sign “at least” one extra forward before the end of the January transfer window at The Hawthorns, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported via his X account on Friday (19 January) that Carlos Corberan would like to strengthen his forward line in the closing days of the window, with at least one new arrival, suggesting more new faces could be set to arrive before the window slams shut.

Albion have already bolstered their forward line with one new addition this month, having signed Andi Weimann on loan from Bristol City for the second half of the season, but the Baggies’ intention was always to sign two new attackers.

When asked whether anything more would happen at Albion, Nixon replied: “Want an extra forward … at least.”

At least…

The news that West Brom are targeting at least one new forward won’t come as too much of a shock to supporters, however, Nixon’s insinuation that one new addition is the bare minimum could be exciting for Albion fans as it suggests more arrivals could be on their way.

The signing of Weimann is an excellent start as the Austrian will provide the Baggies with a much-needed element of versatility while also boosting their firepower in attack having lost Jeremey Sarminento while Matt Phillips is also sidelined.

But if the Baggies really want to kick on and book their place in the playoff places this season, they could do with signing at least one more forward option, rather than relying on the goals and fitness of Brandon Thomas-Asante and Daryl Dike.

Hopefully, Albion can get all their business done before the end of the January window, otherwise, Corberan’s squad could well be stretched to its absolute limit between now and the end of the season.
