Carlos Corberan must axe Brandon Thomas-Asante after 50% display in West Brom loss v Norwich City
West Brom have been far too inconsistent this season, with their promotion hopes dented following their loss against Norwich City.
Josh Sargent and Jonathan Rowe scored the goals as the Canaries defeated the Baggies 2-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday (20 January). The loss leaves the Albion sitting fifth in the Championship table, two points ahead of Coventry in sixth.
The West Brom defence certainly weren’t at their best against Norwich as they conceded twice, but the visiting attackers were just as poor.
Leading the line at Carrow Road was Brandon Thomas-Asante, but he looked lost during his 69 minutes on the pitch, before being replaced by Daryl Dike.
As per Sofascore, the starter registered just 25 touches, and completed just seven of his 11 passes, representing a success rate of 64%.
More worryingly, the attacker won just six of his 12 duels (50%), losing both of his aerial duels, with six out of 10 ground duels won. On a frustrating afternoon, Thomas-Asante also completed just one of his three dribble attempts, as well as missing one big chance.
Given his struggles and indeed Corberan’s other options, axing the attacker for the upcoming clash with Wolves may be the best choice.
The Baggies welcome the Premier League club to The Hawthorns in an FA Cup fourth round clash next Sunday (28 January).

Corberan now has plenty of attackers to choose from to lead the line in that clash, with Daryl Dike back from injury and Andi Weimann having joined on loan.
Both players came off the bench in the loss to Norwich, but either could be handed a start ahead of Thomas-Asante when Wolves come to The Hawthorns. The 25-year-old is in double figures for goals in all competitions this season, but is perhaps due a rest.
In other West Brom news, Thomas-Asante has gushed over one exit-linked Albion teammate amid January transfer window speculation.
