Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston one step closer to January transfer amid West Brom links
Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston appears to be one step closer to a January transfer amid West Brom links amid developments at the Scottish club.
The Hoops brought in Nicolas Kuhn in the third week of January and the German attacker is undoubtedly set to be a regular starter for the club.
This will push Johnston further down Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order at Parkhead and it opens the door for the Baggies to make a move.
The Daily Mail reported on its website on Tuesday (23 January) that West Brom are keen on securing the services of the Republic of Ireland international.
With Kuhn’s arrival, Johnston may see this as a sign of Rodgers not believing he’s got what it takes and may not mind considering a move to the Hawthorns.
Having a fellow Ireland international in the team in Jayson Molumby, Johnston’s transition from Scotland to the West Midlands will be a smoother one.
Johnston, 24, has made just three league starts this season and his other five appearances have been off the bench for Rodgers’ side.
Despite his limited minutes, he has managed to score two goals and Carlos Corberan desperately needs goal scorers as he appears on course to finish in the play off spots.

The Republic of Ireland international’s versatility can see him playing on either wing and also as a number 10.
Given West Brom’s injury woes this season, he can certainly come in handy and they must do everything they can to explore the possibility of signing him on loan.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are now extremely keen on securing a deal for a Premier League striker in January who made headlines this season.
