Lewis Cox shares West Brom selection update v Wolves as development emerges on Grady Diangana

Grady Diangana will not be available for the West Brom game against Wolves after a development has emerged.

The Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox tweeted on Wednesday (24 January) that the winger will remain at the Africa Cup of Nations after DR Congo secured their place in the knockout rounds after picking up a third straight draw following their goalless stalemate with Tanzania on Wednesday.

He added that the 25-year-old’s nation will now line up against Egypt on Sunday (28 January), meaning he will miss the FA Cup tie against Wolves at the Hawthorns on that same day.

Mixed emotions

There will probably be mixed emotions for all those associated with West Brom to learn that Diangana isn’t going to be available for what is a massive fixture against a West Midlands rival.

There is no doubt that they would have liked him to be involved as he is a potential game-changer on his day, but they will be happy for him on a personal level that his team are doing well.

The winger would have been extremely likely to have started the game having featured heavily under Carlos Corberan this season, but someone else is now going to have to step up in absence.

DR Congo are likely to go into the clash against Egypt as the underdogs, so there is a good chance that he will return to the club after this weekend.

But until then, the Baggies are going to have to continue without him as they look to pick up the bragging rights when they face Wolves at the Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies must act now to avoid one star leaving after a concerning development has emerged.
