Adrian Chiles predicts West Brom v Wolves result ahead of Black Country derby

Celebrity West Brom fan Adrian Chiles predicted the Baggies to secure a 2-2 draw against Wolves in the FA Cup on Sunday, 28 January.

He admitted that West Brom have nothing to lose as they’re the underdogs and not expected to progress to the next round.

However, if Wolves lose, it will become a story as they’re a Premier League side and have a more expensive squad.

“I’m just worried it’s our time to have our backsides handed to us on a plate, and they give us a good going over at The Albion,” he said.

“I don’t mind them winning as long as they don’t score more than two [goals].”

He predicted a 2-2 draw on the BBC and added: “It’s either horrible or brilliant – but that’s football.

“I think the interesting thing is Wolves have only got us to concentrate on hating, whereas we’ve got to spread the hate about a bit because we’ve got Wolves and Villa to worry about.

“I think it’s kind of worse for Wolves fans because it’s a bit of a no-win for them.

“If they beat us, they beat us as they would, because they’re a Premier League team with a more expensive squad, but if we win it becomes a story.”

Spot on

Carlos Corberan’s side are underdogs but will be backed by a Hawthorns that’s expected to be packed to the rafters.

This will certainly give the home side a boost and bigger upsets have taken place in the FA Cup and that’s precisely what Corberan will be telling his players.

Despite Wolves heading to the Hawthorns with a six-game unbeaten run and recent victories against strong Premier League opponents, the unpredictability of cup competitions offers the Baggies a chance for an upset.

With memories of their resounding win in the last FA Cup meeting 17 years ago, the Baggies should draw inspiration from their history against Wolves.

The recent competitive history between the two teams, including a 1-1 draw in 2021 and a 3-2 victory for the Baggies in 2021, suggests a closely contested match.

To advance to the next round, Corberan’s side must demonstrate determination, capitalise on historical successes and deliver a spirited performance against their rivals.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are now extremely keen on securing a deal for a Premier League striker in January who made headlines this season.
