Carlos Corberan shares Daryl Dike fitness update ahead of West Brom v Wolves clash

West Brom striker Daryl Dike will miss Sunday’s FA Cup derby clash against Wolves (28 January), Carlos Corberan has confirmed.

The Baggies boss speaking in his press conference on Friday (via Lewis Cox, 26 January) shared that the Baggies hitman suffered a minor calf injury against Norwich last weekend.

It is believed that Dike has been working with the club’s medical staff on the calf issue – and will not be available for Sunday’s Black Country derby at The Hawthorns.

However, Corberan also explained that Dike’s setback is not a major one and he is hopeful to have the striker available for selection in the clash with Birmingham City on 3 February.

Not again

Once again, a new week, and yet another injury worry for West Brom as their dreadful injury record this season continues with Dike now ruled out v Wolves.

The American has seen his game-time limited since his long-awaited return from an Achilles setback with Corberan managing his minutes but he’s now suffered another setback at the wrong time.

While it’s not a major concern for the Albion, Dike’s presence will be sorely missed against Wolves on Sunday, a game where he may well have started.

Now Corberan has to think of something else to pull out of the bag and claim a statement bragging rights win over their fierce neighbours.

West Brom

West Brom already have Jayson Molumby out of action for the foreseeable future and they really do not need others so it’s excellent news that Dike may well return in another fierce derby clash against Birmingham next week.
