Investigation launched after ‘inexcusable’ West Brom v Wolves controversy
The Football Association (FA) has confirmed it will investigate the crowd trouble during the match between West Brom and Wolves, as reported by Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Sunday (28 January) that the “appropriate actions” will be taken following the disorder.
The FA Cup fourth round clash on Sunday was stopped with just over 10 minutes remaining due to the issues at The Hawthorns.
“Safety and security are of the utmost importance, and the behaviour of those involved was dangerous and inexcusable,” the FA said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“We will be investigating these serious incidents alongside the clubs and the relevant authorities, and the appropriate action will be taken.”
Sad to see
It really was sad to see an exciting football match between two rivals marred by such violence, with a lot of crowd trouble taking place in the latter stages of the game.
Wolves had just taken a 2-0 lead at The Hawthorns when the issues really boiled over, much to the disappointment of the players and other fans who had been behaving properly.
It was, of course, only a section of supporters that let themselves down, as is often the case with crowd trouble. But there could now be problems for both West Brom and Wolves as a result of the investigation.

The match was allowed to finish after a lengthy pause, with the Premier League club securing a 2-0 win. Trouble aside, it was a professional display from the visitors, with Gary O’Neil’s side getting the job done in the end thanks to their competence at both ends of the pitch.
