Lee Dixon raves about ‘brilliant’ Tom Fellows live on air after what he did in West Brom loss v Wolves at the Hawthorns

Lee Dixon raved about Tom Fellows after what he did in the second half of the West Brom game against Wolves on Sunday (28 January).

Speaking on co-commentary on ITV (01:14pm), the pundit said it was a “brilliant disguise” from the 20-year-old winger as he cut the ball back to Brandon Thomas-Asante on the edge of the box.

After the forward hit the ball high and wide, Dixon added that he had to hit the target from that position before Albion went on to lose the game 2-0 at the Hawthorns.

“It’s brilliant the disguise from Fellows to whip that across the six-yard box,” said Dixon. “But Thomas-Asante just stays outside the box, it’s a little bit behind him, got to hit the target.

“I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say it wasn’t the perfect position to hit it from, but got to hit the target from there.”

No composure

It was one of the best chances West Brom had to get on the scoresheet in the game and, with the scoreline at 1-0 at that point, he simply had to work the keeper.

But Thomas-Asante showed absolutely no composure as he got under the ball following some excellent work by Fellows to find him in space.

The winger looked bright after coming off the bench for Albion before Matheus Cunha’s goal all but settled the tie with just over 10 minutes left to play.

The ugly scenes that took place after that goal completely overshadowed the occasion, though, with crowd trouble leading to a long delay in the match restarting.

Carlos Corberan will now be looking to put the game firmly behind him as he looks to put his side in a position to challenge for promotion this season.

In other West Brom news, a first-team player is now likely to leave the Hawthorns.
