Roy Keane blasts Jed Wallace live on air after what he did in West Brom v Wolves at the Hawthorns
Roy Keane has blasted Jed Wallace for what he did in the build-up to Wolves’ goal in the first half against West Brom on Sunday (28 January).
Speaking at half-time on ITV (12:37pm), the pundit said the Baggies were “in trouble” when Alex Mowatt’s corner was intercepted on the edge of the area by Matt Docherty.
He added that the Albion captain Wallace should’ve done “a bit better” as he failed to make a challenge on the halfway line before some “poor” defending led to Pedro Neto opening the scoring at the Hawthorns.
“We knew they were in trouble West Brom,” said Keane. “When you have that many players running back towards your own goal, you’re in trouble. They punished them.
“Listen, West Brom have had their moments and are slightly unlucky. It’s obviously a practice, they’ve tried this on the training ground, but you’re in trouble. I think Wallace should’ve maybe done a bit better.
“Docherty done well, good decision-making, nice pace of the pass. You’re in trouble here. It’s a lovely finish, really poor defending. Do they deserve it? No, they’ve not shown enough quality, but a really good movement for them. West Brom will be kicking themselves.”
Not good enough
It really wasn’t good enough from the West Brom players as a collective after Docherty latched onto Mowatt’s corner and broke away.
While some may blame the midfielder for his execution of the set-piece, there is absolutely no way that the defender should be able to carry the ball so far up the field without being tackled.
It was a disappointing attempt at a tackle from Wallace as he should have just taken a yellow card rather than let it unfold and Wolves get into his side’s half.

Conor Townsend and then John Swift had an opportunity to prevent Neto getting a shot away, but they let him come inside onto his left foot before he fired the ball home.
This is exactly what Carlos Corberan would have been telling his players to be wary of so he will be extremely disappointed with the way the goal unfolded at a crucial moment in the game.
In other West Brom news, a first-team player is now likely to leave the Hawthorns.
