‘Weird’ Craig Dawson moment spotted at The Hawthorns before West Brom v Wolves FA Cup tie

Chris Lepkowski has reacted to a “weird” moment spotted involving Craig Dawson prior to the FA Cup clash between West Brom and Wolves.

Wolves defender Dawson started Sunday’s (28 January) fourth-round tie at The Hawthorns, where he previously spent close to nine years.

Dawson walked past a picture of himself in a West Brom kit in the tunnel area, which was pointed out by Joe Chapman on Twitter [28 January].

Replying to that Tweet, former Birmingham Mail reporter Lepkowski said via his personal account: “Just weird”.

Premier League regular

Dawson spent eight seasons with Albion, five of those as a starting regular, but plenty of water has passed under the bridge since then.

As is the way in football, you can give nearly a decade of solid service to a club, but that does not mean you cannot tarnish your reputation.

Right now, Dawson is a Wolverhampton Wanderers player and is therefore not exactly a fan favourite among The Hawthorns faithful – as summed up by the repeated jeers from the home sections.

In fairness, the experienced centre-back cannot be blamed for joining Wolves 12 months ago as it meant prolonging his Premier League career.

Dawson has started 19 games in the top flight this season, so he is clearly still on top of his game – even if in the colours of ‘them’.

Once he calls time on his career, his time at Albion can perhaps be looked back on more fondly than it is right now while he is on Wolves’ books.
