West Brom want to seal Loizos Loizou transfer before January deadline, decision made
West Brom wanted to sign Omonia Nicosia winger Loizos Loizou before the January transfer deadline, according to Anthony Joseph.
The Sky Sports journalist has reported on X that the attacker is now set to join Heerenveen on loan for the rest of the season, as he moves away from Cyprus.
It is no secret that West Brom have been targeting loan moves with Plymouth another Championship club now set to miss out on Loizou, who is now set for a medical in Holland.
Targets.
Since Jeremy Sarmiento left the club, cutting short his loan move to join Ipswich, attention has been on bringing in new faces to strengthen the club.
Carlos Corberan has managed to bring in Callum Marshall and Andy Weimann, meaning a move for Loizou was potentially never on the cards.
Given that two new attackers are through the door already ahead of the February 1 deadline, it looks as though midfield could be the next area to target, if there is room.
Jayson Molumby has been ruled out with injury, and Corberan himself admitted that he is keen to know if the finances will stretch enough to bring in a fresh face in that area.
This is no real blow to miss out on Loizou, but you can see the type of player that the club were targeting ahead of getting the other two deals done.
