West Brom in pole position to sign Chaka Traore as sprint finish on to complete AC Milan deal before deadline
West Brom are now facing a sprint finish to sign Chaka Traore before the transfer deadline, but remain in pole position to win the race for his signature, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition on Tuesday (30 January) that the striker has spoken to both the Baggies and Swiss side Lausanne over a potential deadline-busting January transfer.
Despite the Swiss Super League side’s reported interest, Carlos Corberan’s side remain favourites to secure the 19-year-old before Thursday (1 September) night’s transfer deadline as Traore prepares to face a new challenge at The Hawthorns.
Huge signing
West Brom need attacking reinforcements at The Hawthorns for the second half of the season and Traore has the potential to make a monumental difference to the Baggies’ frontline between now and the end of the campaign.
Corberan has a number of exciting wide options available to him already and the addition of Andi Weimann on loan from Bristol City will provide an element of versatility and experience. But Traore has that raw ability that is so exciting to both supporters and Corberan.

The 19-year-old has very little first-team experience but has managed to score twice for Milan this season in just four appearances in all competitions. There is plenty of talent there and the opportunity to play regularly in the Championship may help bring it out of the teenager.
Hopefully, West Brom will make use of their pole position and win the race to bring Traore to The Hawthorns. This may be a slightly risky January move, but if it works, it has the potential to be season-defining for the Baggies.
