West Brom transfer news as AC Milan deal agreed for Chaka Traore

West Brom have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the loan signing of Chaka Traore in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian newspaper reported via its website [30 January] that both clubs are waiting on the 19-year-old’s decision about his destination this month ahead of a proposed move to The Hawthorns.

It is understood that the deal would just be a “dry” loan until June but is not yet done, with Traore still needing to agree to personal terms.

Raw talent

Following the frustrating exit of Jeremy Sarmiento, Traore could be a perfect replacement for the Ecuadorian, who has already started to shine on loan at Ipswich Town.

Traore is very much a raw talent, having joined AC Milan from Parma in July 2022 and has only made four appearances for the Italian giants since.

Although his game time is limited, the 19-year-old has netted twice on those four occasions, scoring in a 4-1 victory over Cagliari in the Coppa Italia and then in a 3-0 win over Empoli, having been substituted on with six minutes remaining.

With Carlos Corberan’s extreme lack of options from the bench, shown by his matchday squad against Wolves in the FA Cup, Traore would present as a dangerous bundle of energy to replace one of his favoured attackers.

It could certainly be a risk bringing such an unknown youngster to the club on loan. However, by the looks of his performances this season, it should be a signing for Baggies fans to get excited about.
