West Brom ‘ready to welcome’ Brahima Diarra in last-ditch transfer before 11pm deadline at The Hawthorns
West Brom are “ready to welcome” Brahima Diarra to The Hawthorns before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday 1 February, according to Foot Mercato.
As reported by the French news outlet online (31 January), the Baggies are one of nine Championship sides and a Ligue 1 club interested in signing the Huddersfield Town midfielder.
His contract in West Yorkshire expires next June, and the Mali Under-23 international could be on the move before Thursday.
Having arrived in England at the age of 16, the now-20-year-old has already made 57 appearances in all competitions as a professional for Huddersfield.
Intriguing
This would certainly be an interesting addition to Carlos Corberan’s squad.
Diarra has not played a big part for Huddersfield this season, starting just five Championship matches and making a further 12 appearances from the bench. However, he is yet to turn 21 and has plenty of time to develop into a top player.
He has nine Championship clubs interested in his services, which suggests that he is a talent to keep an eye on.
Considering he is beginning to make an impact at international level, this will only add to the excitement and intrigue around the player.

For West Brom fans, it is a signing, and that alone might be enough to get people excited. The Baggies have a great chance at making a promotion push this season, and any help they can get would surely be appreciated.
To bring a player like Diarra in, who is young but also boasts experience in the Championship, seems like a low-risk, high-reward move.
In other West Brom news, Fabrizio Romano has named the winner in the race for an attacker linked with the club.
