Deal agreed: Aston Villa to sign West Brom sensation Keilan Quinn in seven-figure transfer
West Brom have agreed a seven-figure deal with Aston Villa to sell starlet Keilan Quinn on Deadline Day, according to The Athletic.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (1 February), journalist Jacob Tanswell reports that the highly-rated midfielder will join Villa’s academy immediately.
Villa will pay the Baggies around £1m to sign the 16-year-old midfielder, with the idea being he will join their scholarship phase next year.
Shame
Once again West Brom are seeing their best talents head across the Midlands to join Aston Villa and at some point it has to stop.
So many players have made that move in recent years since the coaches exodus and Quinn has the potential to be a genuine star in this country, which would have helped West Brom in the future either on the pitch or financially.
Villa know that the Baggies have an excellent academy and that’s why they keep coming to raid it, knowing it’s probably cheaper for them to sign the player than pour money into developing their own homegrown stars.
It’s a real shame that West Brom are in this position, but hopefully with a takeover expected to happen in the relatively near future it will help financially and mean we can work harder on keeping these talents at the club.
Quinn leaves with no hard feelings as he just wants to progress his career, but it’s another crushing blow for the Baggies and the fans that a top talent is heading to a direct rival again.
