Fenerbahce want to sign Okay Yokuslu from West Brom as transfer deadline approaches
Turkish Super Lig leaders Fenerbahce are now interested in signing West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu as we approach the final hours of the transfer window, according to Krampon Sports.
The Turkish news outlet reported the news via their X account on 1 February, with Yokuslu having been linked with a move back to his homeland throughout the January transfer window.
However, it was reported by Sports Digitale [24 January] amid interest from Trabzonspor that the midfielder will see out the season at The Hawthorns, and any deal would take place at the end of the season.
Cannot afford to lose him now
With just hours remaining before the transfer window closes at 11pm, Albion cannot afford to lose Yokuslu. He has been one of their most consistent performers this season and will be crucial to their ongoing push for a playoff place, and as such they must hold on.
The interest from Fenerbahce has come as a surprise after he was linked with a move to his former club Trabzonspor earlier in the window, but now with the league leaders knocking it may be difficult to hold on to their key man.
Yokuslu has been one of the most consistently impressive performers under Carlos Corberan so far this season and has been a big miss when unavailable in the middle of the park.
The possible wait until the end of the season for this deal would be good news at The Hawthorns, but if they step up their interest in the coming hours, it could be a difficult situation.
Plenty could change between now and the end of the season, with a takeover likely to be finalised and, with West Brom currently occupying a playoff spot, even a surprise promotion, both of which will directly impact the likelihood of this deal.
In other West Brom news, the club rejected a seven-figure bid for a young player.
