Scott Sinclair and Dara O’Shea react to West Brom transfer news on Deadline Day
Former West Brom players Scott Sinclair and Dara O’Shea sent a message to Mikey Johnston after his confirmed transfer to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies confirmed the signing of the Celtic forward on transfer deadline day (1 February) joining on a temporary loan from Parkhead in search of regular football.
The 24-year-old Glasgow-born Republic of Ireland international’s deadline day move makes him boss Carlos Corberan’s third January window loan deal after the signings of Callum Marshall from West Ham and Andreas Weimann from Bristol City.
And Johnston took to his Instagram account (1 February) to celebrate his new transfer to The Hawthorns, writing: “Happy to be here West Brom let’s get to work.”
And former Albion stars O’Shea and Sinclair sent a message to the player, congratulating him on his move.
O’Shea wrote: “Love it bud. Great player great club.”
Sinclair who also spent a loan spell at the club back in the 2013/14 campaign shared an emoji message to Johnston.
Great move
Johnston has long been in search of some regular game time elsewhere and a move to The Hawthorns may well be the move he needs to kickstart his career again.
The 24-year-old attacker has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, registering two goals and two assists so possesses the qualities to make an immediate impact.
He may well be leaving a title challenge to join a promotion play-off race but it’s all the same when you need to play football and this could end up being a real coup for the Albion.
Corberan now possesses a stocked attack after the signings of Marshall, Weimann and now Johnston to compensate for the injuries and absences in his squad.
And it is a pretty stocked attack too with Grady Diangana returning from AFCON, Tom Fellows, Jed Wallace and John Swift making up the West Brom forward line.

Here’s hoping this plethora of options can help the club fulfil their Premier League ambitions.
Experience is an underrated commodity in a playoff chase and the Baggies now have an abundance of it in their arsenal with Johnston’s addition. Great business.
