Sky Sports host David Prutton predicts result of West Brom clash v Birmingham City

Sky Sports host David Prutton has made his prediction ahead of the big Championship clash between West Brom and Birmingham this weekend.

The Baggies suffered defeat in their last two games against Norwich and Wolves, but return to The Hawthorns for another derby game as they look to claim their spot in the playoff positions.

But making his predictions for Sky Sports (1 February), Prutton believes the poor form of Carlos Corberan’s side and the uprising of the Blues since Tony Mowbray’s arrival means the visitors could earn a draw.

“West Brom looked nailed on for a spot in the play-offs not too long ago, but a couple of defeats lately has seen the chasing pack catch up a bit,” he wrote. “It doesn’t take a lot for that to happen in this league.

“Birmingham are 20th as the weekend starts but it won’t take them too long to climb the league as Tony Mowbray continues to get his ideas across. Can they cause a stir at The Hawthorns? I think they could grab a draw. 2-2.”

Ouch

The squad was thankfully strengthened on Deadline Day with the arrival of Mikey Johnston to add to the signings of Callum Marshall and Andreas Weimann.

Corberan is also likely to welcome Daryl Dike back from injury but while the club are without several key players like Jayson Molumby and Matty Phillips, which has affected the form of the team.

West Brom

But after defeat to Wolves last time out at The Hawthorns, the fans will be pushing to get back to winning ways and a local derby win to earn bragging rights will certainly be the perfect occasion to get everything back on track.

We’ve already seen how quickly this league can turn on it’s head with a string of bad results so the club simply can’t afford to get beaten again, especially at home, if they want to continue pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.

With a top performance that we know the club and team are capable of this should bring three points and prove Prutton wrong.
