Nigel Quashie loves West Brom starlet Tom Fellows after what he did v Birmingham City
Nigel Quashie was in awe of West Brom starlet Tom Fellows after his first-half performance in the Championship clash with Birmingham on Saturday.
The Baggies went into the break level and goalless during the big game at The Hawthorns, but Fellows was impressive and caught the eye of the former midfielder.
And Quashie, writing on his personal Twitter account (3 February), called for Carlos Corberan to continue giving him opportunities as there are clear signs of his potential.
“Tom Fellows in the first 45 mins has just given real signs of maturity, energy, game awareness, appetite to play with and without the ball,” he wrote.
“Play him because you can see his potential and with more game time he’s only going to get better.
“You can see he’s going to be a player!”
Future of West Brom
It’s absolutely no surprise that Fellows had a host of interest from other clubs as his contract at The Hawthorns was running down, with Everton said to be at the front of the queue.
So there was huge relief and joy when the midfielder penned a new long-term deal to stay at the club, cementing himself as an option for the first-team and as part of Corberan’s plans.
His performances in recent weeks have justified that decision too, and it’s great to see that he is getting the praise of fans and former players who can see what he brings to the club.
With the financial situation at the club as volatile as it is, it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see the club invite offers for a talent like Fellows and sell him on to make cash, but this was the right decision.
He is the future of the club alongside several other young talents coming through the academy, and should we complete a stunning return back to the Premier League there is no doubt he will be a big part of that.
