West Brom: Andi Weimann out to achieve career first at The Hawthorns
Andi Weimann is eyeing a career-first promotion during his time on loan with West Brom after becoming an instant hit with supporters.
The experienced forward joined Albion on loan from Bristol City in the January transfer window and is already off the mark for his new club.
Weimann scored a late winner in Saturday’s (3 February) 1-0 win over Birmingham City at The Hawthorns to maintain Albion’s promotion push.
Speaking on BBC WM [5 February], Weimann said: “We now need to build on this. The one thing I haven’t done in my career is to get promoted.
“It was my daughter’s sixth birthday [on Saturday] and she was there to watch too.
“She’s seen me play for Bristol City. But it was the first home game she’d been to at The Hawthorns, so the perfect day, really.”
West Brom right in Premier League promotion mix
The West Midlands derby victory was a welcome return to form following defeats to Norwich City and Wolves – the latter in the FA Cup.
Albion are sitting firmly in fifth place right now, three points above sixth-placed Hull City and four above Coventry City in seventh.
The top four are in a battle amongst themselves at this point, and realistically fifth is the best the Baggies can hope for at this stage.
Up next is a trip to one of those teams above us, Ipswich Town, on Saturday (10 February).

A victory in that game would close the gap somewhat, but more importantly it will fend off the chasing pack further.
Indeed, next weekend’s match could well be a dress rehearsal for the two-legged play-off semi-finals if things remain the way they are.
All Carlos Corberan’s men can do it keep getting points on the board and ensure they finish in those top-six spots come the end of the campaign.
