Martin Kelly may never play for West Brom again after recent development

West Brom defender Martin Kelly may already have played his last senior game at the Hawthorns amid a fresh development in February.

It had been revealed on 5 February, that the 33-year-old right-back will be unavailable to train for the next 10 weeks.

This update was relayed by Lewis Cox, the Express and Star journalist, who claims that he suffered a blow after his long-term injury-related absence.

Kelly had been back in under-21s games and the feeling was that he was edging closer to making a first-team return.

Had he progressed as he would’ve wanted to, he was a few games away from actually being in contention for Carlos Corberan’s side.

However, with this blow, 10 weeks from 5 February will mean that he will not return to training until the third week of April.

Even then, when he’s back to training, he will need to play games with the reserves and given how much time his recent rehab took, there is a chance that it will at least go on for over a month.

The season will end in May and there seems to be a very realistic possibility that the Hawthorns faithful have seen the last of the 33-year-old.

His contract at the club runs out in June and given the fact that he’s been on the payroll without playing a single game all season is likely to result in him not being handed an extension.
