West Brom suspend season ticket holder after alleged racist abuse v Birmingham
West Brom have suspended the season ticket of a man who has been arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Juninho Bacuna during the clash against Birmingham City, the club have confirmed.
In a statement issued via the club’s official website, it was shared that the 50-year-old from Dudley has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
The club have ratified their position that they will continue to work with the FA, the EFL and all relevant authorities to rid the game of racism, taking a strong stance against all forms of discrimination.
West Brom make the right call
As things stand, the individual who has been arrested is yet to stand trial and has not been convicted of the alleged offence, but if he is then the club have already made the correct call to revoke his season ticket – and he should be banned from The Hawthorns for life.
In footage shared by Sky Sports, Bacuna is shown to be pointing directly to the man he felt had abused him, identifying him to those concerns and allowing the eventual ban and arrest to be made.
There has been widespread condemnation of the incident from pundits and fans alike, with ex-Albion player Nigel Quashie taking to X to state that the individual involved does not represent what West Brom stand for, and calling for a lifetime ban.

It is embarrassing and disgraceful that these conversations still need to be had after games of football, with so many incidents still occurring in the modern game, and praise should be given to all of those involved in identifying and punishing the man involved.
