West Brom takeover news: Complexities claim emerges as money not unlimited

Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox has responded to questions over the West Brom takeover as finances are limited at the club.

He claimed on 6 February that everyone wants this to go ahead as soon as possible due to the complexities in the deal.

There’s also the urgency to get it done as money isn’t endless with the Baggies aiming to return to the Premier League as well.

Cox said on Twitter, “Everybody involved wants asap Luke but this is far from a smooth thing and contains many complexities. Clearly there is a growing need to get it wrapped up because £ is not endless.”

Takeover twists and turns at Hawthorns

Everyone involved at the club will be hoping that the takeover goes ahead as soon as possible, preferably before the end of the season.

Right now, the Baggies are ideally where they would’ve wanted to be and the fact that they could be playing Premier League football come August is certainly worth relishing.

Given everything going on behind the scenes and the lack of proper investment into the squad, it’s commendable what a job Carlos Corberan’s been doing.

He has improved a number of players at the Hawthorns and has made this team favourites going into most matches in the league.

Finishing in the top six gives them the perfect chance to have a proper go at promotion and play-offs are unpredictable so if things go their way, a lot could happen.

There are some issues with the wage bill that may need addressing but those are the responsibilities of the higher ups and not the manager.
