Carlos Corberan reveals new West Brom midfielder transfer plans at The Hawthorns

Carlos Corberan has admitted that West Brom are looking to bring in a new midfielder despite the transfer window being shut.

The Baggies strengthened the squad with three signings during the January transfer window, bringing in Andreas Weimann, Mikey Johnston and Callum Marhsall to bolster the attacking areas.

But Corberan wants a new midfielder with Jayson Molumby and Adam Reach facing a spell on the sidelines with injury, and he has hinted that the search is continuing in the free agent market.

“Even though we haven’t brought in anyone (in midfield) yet, the option to move Caleb [Taylor] was then, we couldn’t move him today,” he said, as quoted by Express and Star (8 February).

Carlos Corberan knows what West Brom need

If there is anyone who is trusted the most by West Brom fans right now, it’s the manager and there is no doubt that he knows exactly what the team needs.

Despite having huge budget problems he has taken the Baggies from battling against relegation when he took over to competing for the playoffs last season and now really pushing for a spot in the top six this season.

Current midfield options of Okay Yokuslu, Alex Mowatt and Nathaniel Chalobah are good but it leaves the team incredibly short if anyone else were to get injured. In the Championship that just isn’t good enough.

The free agent market isn’t particularly large at this point in the season and it will be tough for the board and boss to find the right target to come in who can really make a difference.

But the club is clearly working hard to help the manager out and he is expectant that something will happen eventually, so it’s an exciting time.
