West Brom academy aces Caleb Taylor and Zac Ashworth thriving on loan at Bolton
West Brom academy stars Caleb Taylor and Zac Ashworth are thriving on loan at Bolton in League One, each putting in impressive performances as they drew with Barnsley last week.
Ashworth scored the equalising goal with a powerful back-post header, taking his tally to two for the season from just 11 league appearances in his usual left-wing-back role.
Taylor made his debut in the game at centre-back before he was withdrawn through injury, although manager Ian Evatt confirmed after the game that it was just an issue with a cramp [The Bolton News].
The two defenders, both 21 years old, will have ambitions of breaking into the first team under Carlos Corberan, with loan spells towards the top of League One the ideal place to develop for Championship football.
Taylor had been earmarked to feature more for Albion, but after just one league appearance was sent out on loan. He moved to Bolton on deadline day due to the club undergoing an injury crisis at the back and immediately stepped up on his debut.
Despite playing just 68 minutes before he was withdrawn, the centre-back made five clearances, one tackle and one interception, winning four of his six aerial duels and recording a 100 per cent ground duel success rate, as well as a 50 per cent long passing accuracy. [Sofascore]
Ashworth, meanwhile, was handed the man-of-the-match award after his display in which he scored with his only shot of the game. That came alongside a 100 per cent dribble completion rate, winning four of his five ground duels and five of eight aerial duels.

With both players showing what they can do while away on loan, and Bolton currently sitting third in League One, a promotion on both of their CVs should put them in a good position to make a claim for the Albion first-team next season.
