West Brom injury news: Doctor issues update on Matt Phillips rehabilitation
West Brom winger Matt Phillips is unlikely to play a senior game again this season even if he returns to training, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that he’s currently in the macro aspect of his rehabilitation and not the micro one which suggests he’s still a while away from returning.
Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox reported on 3 February that he was ahead of schedule with his recovery and could be back in training before the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Phillips’ situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said: “Phillips has been out with a serious hamstring injury that required surgery so he is a long-term absentee for the club.
“Looks like he is progressing to the stage of more sport-specific activities with more of his day focused on the macro rather than micro rehab.
“He’s likely to be out until April, which is two more months and even then having him back for the remainder of the games is a bit of a stretch.
“He will need several bounce games in order to regain his match sharpness.“
Phillips important to Carlos Corberan
An image emerged recently of him at Hawthorns which suggests that he is interacting with the rest of the team and the club physios.
The 32-year-old has made 19 league appearances this season for the Baggies and has contributed with three goals and as many assists.

Carlos Corberan will undoubtedly be gutted as the Scottish attacker was among the first names on the team sheet and tremendously versatile as well.
