West Brom transfer news: Twist emerges in deal to sign Yann M’Vila

West Brom will not be able to complete the signing of former Inter Milan and Sunderland midfielder Yann M’Vila on Friday, according to Lewis Cox.

The Express and Star journalist shares that there is red tape left to sort out with regard to his visa and other things.

However, there is the expectation of the deal going through to sign the Frenchman.

Cox wrote on Twitter: “WBA working to seal free transfer signing of Yann M’Vila. Visa and other things to sort but sounds like it should get done. Highly unlikely to be confirmed today. 33yo played under Corberan in Greece. Boss praised the experienced Frenchman’s character.”

M’Vila a coup for West Brom?

A short-term contract appears to be on the cards for M’Vila and it seems like a wise decision made by the Baggies.

Corberan has worked with the Frenchman previously so he knows exactly what he’ll be bringing to the table this season.

He might be a shadow of the player he was in his prime but he will bring much-needed poise and leadership to this Baggies midfield.

West Brom are in advanced talks to sign him and there does not seem to be any real competition to secure his services this month.

Hopefully, there are no last-minute twists and the Baggies get their man which should be the case given the Corberan factor.

If he performs better than expectations, there’s always a chance his contract will be extended by another year come June.
