Andi Weimann stinks with 3/10 – West Brom player ratings v Ipswich Town

West Brom threw away two points in a 2-2 draw at Portman Road with Ipswich after a 93rd-minute equaliser saw the honours shared.

The Baggies started well and took the lead halfway through the first-half with a stunning individual goal by Tom Fellows. They were lucky not to be drawn level shortly after when Conor Chaplin skied over from 12 yards out unmarked.

But it took less than a minute of the second half for Ipswich to equalise after a long throw eventually fell to Nathan Broadhead to volley into the corner in a disastrous start for the visitors.

Andi Weimann thought he’d given the team the lead again however his goal was correctly ruled out after it was shown that he punched the ball into the net, before West Brom’s day went from bad to worse when Daryl Dike was taken off just minutes after coming on with what looked like yet another serious achilles injury.

John Swift came on in his place and scored an absolute screamer with just 13 minutes remaining, firing a 25-yard strike into the bottom corner only for Omari Hutchinson to equalise in the 93rd minute.

Alex Palmer – 7/10

Once again a top performance from the stopper, despite no clean sheet on this occasion. Commanded his box well, dealt with aerial balls in and made a couple of big saves when he needed to also.

Darnell Furlong – 6/10

Furlong didn’t offer enough going forward but Albion managed to prevent Ipswich creating too many clear-cut chances throughout the game, and especially down their left-wing.

Kyle Bartley – 6/10

A solid first half in which he was forced to command his area a lot and organise, but his good performance was cut short by a calf problem right at the end of the half which saw him unable to continue in the second half.

Cedric Kipre – 7/10

The transformation in Kipre’s career at The Hawthorns has been nothing short of staggering, and it continued here with another top performance. Seemed in control at all times and never looked like he was going to lose a duel.

Connor Townsend – 6/10

Much like Furlong, he got his job done with minimal fuss throughout the 90 minutes. Didn’t offer too much going forward, but defensively did everything that was asked of him and there can be no complaints.

Okay Yokuslu – 7/10

The Turkey ace dominated the midfield in the first-half and was forced to move into central defence when Bartley had to go off injured which hampered him a little. But he was confident in possession as usual and did very little wrong, despite one shaky back-pass that caused Palmer issues.

Alex Mowatt – 5/10

Mowatt looked okay in the first half next to Okay, but once he was the main man in the midfield he struggled. The second half saw his defensive work improve but his control of the ball worsen, and he was probably lucky to complete 90 minutes.

Jed Wallace – 7/10

The captain led by example once more with fantastic determination and discipline defensively, while also having drive and quality going forward. A solid all-round performance.

A stinker from Andi Weimann for West Brom

Andreas Weimann – 3/10

An anonymous showing in the first-half for the attacker which saw Corberan raging with him from the sideline, before he decided to slap the ball into the net instead of heading it to put the team 2-1 up. A poor performance from an experienced player.

Ollie Bostock will be hoping to emulate Tom Fellows’ rise into the West Brom first-team

Tom Fellows – 8/10

The brilliant youngster has been flying since he broke into the team and he justified his starting place with this early performance. He was a constant threat, direct and always willing to run in behind. Was a bit of a surprise when he was taken off after just 54 minutes with the scores level.

Brandon Thomas-Asante – 5/10

As always a willing runner, but he just lacked the quality leading the line alone to make a big difference to the result. Always seemed a yard slow when it came to attacking crosses, and with new attacking options he may not be a starter for much longer considering the team’s struggles in front of goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Nathaniel Chalobah – 5/10
