West Brom confirmed XI v Ipswich – Carlos Corberan axes John Swift

Carlos Corberan has made one change to his starting lineup for the West Brom clash against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday (10 February).

Ahead of kick-off, the Baggies confirmed via their official Twitter account (10 February) that Alex Palmer will start in goal, with Darnell Furlong, Kyle Bartley, Cedric Kipre and Conor Townsend playing in defence.

Elsewhere, Alex Mowatt starts in midfield alongside Okay Yokuslu while Andreas Weimann, Tom Fellows and Jed Wallace will look to support forward Brandon Thomas-Asante in the attacking positions.

John Swift has dropped to the bench in place of Weimann who makes his first start for the Baggies since his January move.

West Brom win v Ipswich would be massive for Corberan

There’s no doubt that Ipswich have had a fantastic season this year and the job Kieran McKenna has done is excellent, but West Brom will be expected to cause a stir against the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich have seen their place in the top-two disrupted due to some tepid form coupled with Southampton and Leeds United impressing in recent weeks so would be desperate for the three points but face a tough test.

Corberan’s men have been mightily impressive over the past year with the Spaniard taking them from relegation hopefuls to playoff contenders in the space of over a year and given their position in the table, McKenna’s men are in for a tough encounter.

The Albion have also dealt with an insane amount of injury problems this season, as well as having players leave against his wishes and yet West Brom are right in the mix again.

He has some unexpected found solutions with young players and got results right up against expectations and that certainly means the West Brom boss must be handed tremendous credit.

This is a huge game for both teams and it’s a real 50/50 affair with both squads arguably over-performing on expectations this season, with the winner gaining huge ground in the chase for a playoff spot.

A win for West Brom would be massive, though their away form has been a mystery.
