West Brom expect to complete deal to sign Yann M’Vila in coming days – Lewis Cox

West Brom expect to confirm the deal to sign free agent midfielder Yann M’Vila in the coming days, according to journalist Lewis Cox.

Speaking on his personal Twitter account (9 February), the Express and Star journalist has confirmed a deal is close to bring the 33-year-old Frenchman into The Hawthorns.

But with visa and contract issues still being ironed out, the player is only expected to be confirmed over the weekend or potentially early next week after they beat Ligue 1 competition to his signature.

“It sounds like a deal until the end of the season,” he said. “Albion are just getting it over the line in terms of visas were mentioned, those final bits to get the free transfer done.

“I don’t believe it will be done today. So certainly no intentions today of any new recruit featuring against Ipswich tomorrow.

“But I expect confirmation over the weekend or perhaps early next week.”

West Brom are finally signing a new midfielder

It feels like it’s been a long time coming for the Baggies, but Carlos Corberan was adamant that he wanted to strengthen the midfield area of his squad.

Nathaniel Chalobah, Alex Mowatt and Okay Yokuslu are the only fit options in the squad, with Jayson Molumby ruled out for the season with an injury after undergoing surgery and Adam Reach ruled out for a while too.

M’Vila is an experienced former international midfielder who has had plenty of time playing at the highest level, and has even worked under Corberan before.

There are thankfully enough options for the game against Ipswich that his signing didn’t need to be rushed through, and the fact he has been without a club since the summer means it may end up being a little while before we actually see him in the blue and white stripes.

But Corberan has finally got his man, and the Baggies have been strengthened. With a takeover set to be closed soon too, things are looking up finally.

In other West Brom news, £60m takeover expected to be completed within a month.
