West Brom hero Peter Odemwingie takes swipe at Wolves after Black Country Derby mayhem
West Brom hero Peter Odemwingie has taken a swipe at Wolves for only scoring twice in the recent Black Country Derby clash.
The two clubs met in the FA Cup fourth round at the end of January, with the Premier League club winning 2-0 at The Hawthorns.
The derby was, however, marred by crowd trouble, with the players taken off the pitch to allow police to deal with the issues in the stadium.
Former West Brom striker Odemwingie has now taken a dig at Wolves during an evening with the Staffordshire Baggies fan group.
The Albion hero blasted Wolves for only netting twice at The Hawthorns, when the Albion managed to score five at Molineux in the last game with fans in attendance.
As noted by West Brom podcaster Chris Hall on X on Friday (9 February), the ex-Premier League man said: “Two is not five!”
Incidentally, the Albion have scored eight goals in their last two trips to Molineux, picking up 5-1 and 3-2 victories against their rivals.
West Brom hero laughs at Wolves
Odemwingie enjoyed a fantastic spell at The Hawthorns, with the former striker scoring 31 goals for the club from his 90 appearances.
During his spell there, he would have been made well aware of the rivalry with Wolves, which he has now referenced to the delight of the Albion faithful.
The home fans were well up for the visit of Wolves last month, but the exciting spectacle was undoubtedly ruined by a small section of supporters.
The fall-out from that clash is still ongoing, but there at least was an outcome with the result, with Wolves progressing to the FA Cup fifth round thanks to their 2-0 win.
Gary O’Neil’s side will now meet fellow Premier League club Brighton in the fifth round, with the Baggies left to focus on their Championship goals.

Carlos Corberan’s outfit currently occupy fifth place in the standings, with a trip to fourth-placed Ipswich Town up next.
