West Brom: talkSPORT pundit blown away by what ‘courageous’ Cedric Kipre did v Ipswich Town
West Brom defender Cedric Kipre wowed talkSPORT pundit Alvin Martin with a “courageous” piece of “risky” skill in the Baggies’ draw with Ipswich Town.
Carlos Corberan’s side managed to claim an important point at Portman Road on Saturday (10 February) with goals from Tom Fellows and John Swift helping the Baggies towards a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
However, Martin was even more impressed by Kipre’s composure on the ball under immense pressure midway through the first half, praising the Baggies’ centre-back for his relaxed approach on the ball.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday (10 February, 13:02) he said: “They had the ball midway through their own half with Kipre and I said, they didn’t just bang it long.
“He tried to keep possession, it was a risky thing to do but they’ve nearly ended up getting through on goal in a really dangerous position because he was courageous enough to keep hold of the ball.”
Cedric Kipre deserves a new deal at West Brom
The Baggies have been phenomenal this season and while the performance at Portman Road was excellent, it was just a reminder of just what Corberan’s side have been doing throughout the season.
Albion’s success has been entirely based on defensive stability, which has given the Baggies a platform from which to showcase their attacking talent and Kipre’s wonderful form alongside Kyle Bartley has been a huge part of that playoff push this year.

However, his importance to Corberan’s system serves as a reminder of just why West Brom have to get the Ivorian tied down to a new deal, especially with other clubs starting to take note of his performances ahead of the summer transfer window.
Hopefully, the Baggies can get a new deal over the line as they cannot afford to lose Kipre come the end of the season, no matter what division they are playing in.
