Tony Brown has instantly reacted to an incident in the clash between West Brom and Ipswich Town which saw Daryl Dike pick up an injury, labelling the moment "bleak".

The Baggies shared the points with Kieran McKenna's side in a 2-2 draw at Portman Road on Saturday (10 February), but the result of the game was overshadowed by another injury blow for United States forward Dike in the second half.

Dike's substitute appearance ended after just 10 minutes as he was driven down the tunnel in tears and Brown was quick to voice his concern for the forward as he was clearly in some distress on the field.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM on Saturday (10 February, 13:54) he said: "He's signalling that he's struggling and it looks like another injury. This looks bleak, he knew straight away that something's gone.

"Straight away as soon as he went down, he signalled that he's got a problem and it looks bleak. You see Chalobah has just gone to him and he's put his head in his hands. He knows that there's a problem there and he's off."

Daryl Dike injury 'bleak' for West Brom playoff hopes

West Brom had just started to get their side back to full strength in the last few weeks and then in the space of a single game, their injury woes have become apparent once again with Dike now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Corberan moved quickly to bolster his forward options in January, with Andi Weimann joining the ranks at The Hawthorns, but the Austrian had a poor game on Saturday and cannot be relied upon as a regular source of goals.

Dike had impressed in his limited appearances this season and his return had allowed Brandon Thomas-Asante to get a much-needed rest at the top end of the pitch, now he is the only out-and-out fit striker in the squad.

Hopefully, Josh Maja will be edging closer to a return to action, otherwise this could put a massive dent in the Baggies' playoff hopes this season.
