Kyle Bartley should worry West Brom more than Daryl Dike after ‘Huge’ blow

West Brom will have been disappointed to concede late in their 2-2 against Ipswich Town on Saturday 10 February, but they also have two massive injury worries on their hands.

Daryl Dike’s nightmare at West Brom continued after he was forced off against the Tractor Boys within 10 minutes of being substituted, having only just returned from a nine-month absence.

The forward has been a huge miss at The Hawthorns, with many of the Baggies regarding him as a fan-favourite. However, a different injury during the draw at Portman Road will be making Carlos Corberan sweat.

Kyle Bartley was seen sitting on the floor, clutching his hamstring as the half-time whistle was blown. And with the defender not coming back out for the second half alongside Cedric Kipre, a vital injury could be on the cards.

Bartley absence could be dire for West Brom

Not only will his impact on the pitch be missed, but it was revealed recently that the 32-year-old is the highest earner at the club, raking in £38,000-a-week. [Daily Mail]

In a post-COVID world, and considering West Brom’s current ownership situation, Bartley’s wage at The Hawthorns was described as “huge”. The defender could be unavailable for weeks if the potential hamstring issue is serious, flushing thousands of pounds down the drain each week.

This is not to say the 32-year-old does not deserve his current wage. The veteran has experienced almost six years at the club, amassing 188 appearances for the Baggies and racking up 13 goals.

He has also been superb this season, forming one of the most formidable defences in the Championship this season. Only Leicester City and Leeds United have conceded fewer goals than West Brom.

Bartley has been a true servant for several years, but with him getting no younger, and now this serious worry against Ipswich, there are multiple reasons why West Brom fans should be more worried about Bartley’s injury than Dike.
