Daryl Dike: Brandon Thomas-Asante sends message to West Brom striker after Ipswich incident
Brandon Thomas-Asante has sent a beautiful message of support to West Brom teammate Daryl Dike after his devastating injury against Ipswich Town on Saturday 10 February.
The American forward has only recently recovered from nine months on the sidelines, returning in January for the first time since April 2023 after suffering an Achilles injury.
Dike’s distress was extremely visible as he was carried off the pitch at Portman Road by a medical buggy, breaking down in tears as the whole stadium applauded him.
Taking to Instagram on Monday (12 February), Thomas-Asante wrote: “Honestly speaking, even three points wouldn’t have been able to compensate for what my brother went through yesterday.
“All I can say is I love you brother, and me and the boys feel convicted to go through this with you together (not with a token Instagram post, but with presence, counsel and support) to see you back to the world-beater that you are.
“More than just teammates, can’t wait to see you shine again soon with that superhero-esque celebration man. God bless brother, may he strengthen your heart.”
West Brom family shares Daryl Dike’s pain
The recent outpour from The Hawthorns, with Jed Wallace leading by example, highlights how close the Baggies squad have become, with every player loved and appreciated.
Thomas-Asante looks to have a much closer relationship with Dike, with the 25-year-old currently getting a lot of time in the starting XI due to his absence. However, there is no doubt that he would prefer the challenge and a fit Dike.

Dike certainly has the potential to be an impressive striker at Championship level, but his injury issues have not allowed him to exploit them and net any more than his current eight goals in 32 appearances.
It has been a humongous struggle for the 23-year-old since he arrived from Orlando City in December 2021, suffering multiple injuries in that time. The seriousness of his new injury is relatively, but having told Carlos Corberan that it feels “similar” to his previous Achilles injury, it could be more bad news, sadly.
