Daryl Dike ‘brought to tears’ in new West Brom injury update
Daryl Dike has broken his silence on his latest injury blow and the West Brom forward has admitted that he was “brought to tears” by the response from Baggies supporters.
The United States forward was substituted only 10 minutes after entering the field during Albions 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on Saturday (10 February) leaving the field in tears with what appeared to be another serious injury.
Dike had only recently returned to the West Brom side in January having spent the entirety of the first half of the season on the treatment table with an Achilles issue.
The Baggies striker has vowed to do all he can to return to action as soon as possible.
Writing on X on Monday (12 February) he said: “Unfortunately I have been injured again. Over this past day, I have been trying to wrap my head around the situation and I honestly still can’t, nor do I think, I will be able to for a while.
“One thing I quickly realised, however, is how blessed I am to have so many supporters around me. The amount of messages, videos and comments that I have received has been unbelievable.
“I see them all. I genuinely don’t even know how to thank you all. The things that I have seen have filled my heart and my spirits so much. I have been brought to tears numerous times.
“As many of you know I have been injured multiple times and it has made it easy for me to think negatively. Luckily, this support has pushed many positive thoughts back in. No matter how many times I get knocked down I will keep getting back up.
“I’ve done it before and I will do it again. At the end of the day, all I want to do is play football and be happy again. I know I will and I won’t stop working until my dreams come true.
“No words can be expressed to explain my appreciation towards you all. When the success comes (and it will come) we will all be ready to celebrate together.”
Daryl Dike thankful for West Brom support
Nobody wanted to see Dike go down in the manner that he did at Portman Road on Saturday and pundits and supporters have all sent messages to the Albion forward to offer their support.
The Baggies aren’t blessed with many alternatives at the top end of the field, with Josh Maja also stuck on the treatment table, so it is a huge blow to lose Dike for what could be a prolonged length of time.
But the US forward has had to deal with this before and he has managed to make his way back and it is clear from his message that he will do all he can to be back fit and available as soon as possible.
Hopefully, Baggies supporters won’t have to wait too long to see their centre-forward in action again, but until then they will continue to show him plenty of support.
