Fabrizio Romano sends message to Daryl Dike as he relays West Brom ‘bad news’

West Brom striker Daryl Dike was sent a message of support from noted journalist Fabrizio Romano after his gutting injury update on Monday (12 February).

It was confirmed the Baggies forward has ruptured the Achilles on his left leg in the 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on Saturday (10 February), the opposite one that kept him sidelined from April last year until the start of January 2024.

Dike said he was brought to tears by the response he has received since his latest injury and Italian journalist Romano joined the well-wishers.

Posting on X (12 February), he wrote: “Bad news again for Daryl Dike. It’s a ruptured Achilles, the second he has suffered in under a year.

“Dike will miss the majority of the remainder of 2024, expected to be back in 2025. Wish you all the best and speedy recovery.”

Nice gesture from Fabrizio Romano to West Brom ace Daryl Dike

It was an absolutely heartbreaking scene on Saturday when Dike was taken from the field at Portman Road on a golf buddy and unable to hide his tears.

Having fought so hard to return from an awful injury, to sustain the same fate on the opposite leg is just unthinkably cruel for a young player who just wants to get back on the pitch.

But he has shown his determination and fighting spirit in the past to recover and there is no doubt the United States striker can do exactly the same again to get playing at The Hawthorns.

Hopefully he can come back better than ever and start to finally put these cruel blows behind him and show everyone what he is capable of doing out on the pitch.

In the meantime, the love and support will continue to flow in for Dike and this was a very nice touch from Romano to remind him that everyone is supporting his recovery.
